I'm sure I've mentioned before that the momster is a food hoarder, right? I'm always secretly (or not so secretly) chucking her food out because seriously just because it's frozen doesn't mean it's still edible omg woman get a grip. She thinks that the freezer is a magical paradise for food where nothing bad ever happens. So I make fun of her a lot.

Well, the momster went to Laos to do some charity and some sightseeing and clearly the joke's on me, I poisoned myself with my own food. I made some pasta and then had the leftover pasta the following day. Within 2 hours, I was retching. So basically, karma is a biatch. And I can't cook.

Love your moms guys, and don't make fun of your mom because it doesn't end well. Thanks for reading!

The strangeling

Dress: Far East Plaza (Similar here)

Bag: Gracious Aires (Similar here)
Sunglasses: Karen Walker
Shoes: Charles and Keith (Similar here)

So things at work have been getting a little crazier and I've been feeling a little bit bogged down so I haven't had the time to really think about my dressing and think about blogging. This is one of those dresses that I tend to throw on because it's easy to style and looks fairly corporate. The other dress I wear whenever I'm just too busy to think is my big black tent of a dress. A downside is probably that it confuses people because they're not sure if I'm pregnant and should give up their seat for me on the bus or train. And I guess another downside is being asked if you're pregnant.

Anyway, I'm not. Just saying.

So I don't deal with stress well and I get stressed pretty easily. And then I break out into a rash. Specifically on my hands. My body is really strange. Which I suppose might match my general personality.

Anyway, a bit rambly today I know. I'm a bit hungry so it might not really make sense. Also when I'm stressed, I eat. It's just the worst. Ok thanks for reading. I should stop for now. K. Bye.

An ode to the fatherland

Shirt: ASOS (Similar here)
Skirt: P & Co (Similar here)
Shoes: Vincci (Similar here)
Clutch: Gift from CC from Sportsgirl
Sunglasses: Karen Walker | Earrings: Vincci (Similar here)
Ring: Gift from Cyn from V&A (Similar here) | Bangles: Old (Similar here and here)
It was purely by coincidence that I put on a combination of things from some of my favourite Malaysian brands, Vincci and P&C. I also really like Nichii in case you were wondering. And I credit my awesome colleagues for introducing these brands to me. These Malaysian brands are great because the quality is actually really decent while the price isn't high and because you know I'm a bargain-loving aunty, that combination is basically like a drug to me.

This outfit made me think of my dear daddy long legs who has resided in China for the longest time but is actually a Malaysian citizen. He came from Ipoh, a small little mining town, and while he's unfortunately not passed on any skills of making super delicious Ipoh kway teow, nor any tips on mining, he has made a huge impact in my life by teaching me three very important things:
  1. Be kind to people - This one is so tough because sometimes people can be mean.
  2. Have faith that things will work out fine - He faced some big time hardships, and while disheartened, has never seemed to lose faith.
  3. Never stop dreaming - My dad is a dreamer, he's always running from one crazy idea to the next and while sometimes it drives me abso-fricking-lutely mental, it's also kind of awesome to know that my dad sees the world with wide-eyed wonder even though he's 70!!!
Anyway, this is just a short post to my dad, who probably can't read this since blogger is banned in China. Dad, I'm thinking about you, and even though we've had our tough times, I'm glad you're around and being the big kid that you are. Love you dad.

Thanks for reading everybaadddddy!

All aboard the OCD train. But neatly please.

The Mousie mentioned to me that I need to do a post about my storage techniques because her friend Nat, who reads my blog (HI NAT!!), doesn't believe that I am psychotic about storage and organisation. So here is the post, dedicated to Nat, and also to Mousie who thought that I was purposely packing things in an OCD manner to make it harder for her to steal my stuff. That's just a delightful outcome, you little thief.

1. Clothes can must be sorted into types. Eg. short skirts in one section, long skirts in another, capris then jeans then pants in another, shorts and so on so forth. DUH.
This makes total sense.
2. In their various categories, they need to be colour-coded. In case I need to find something to match with something else, I'll know where it is. Sort of.

Colour-coding is next to godliness
3. Anything I don't wear, I keep further back in the closet. After a year, if I still haven't used it, it goes into the recycle bin where I usually give it away.

4. All the hangers must be the same colour, in my case, it's black, because we just have the most of these and also because they come free when you dryclean things. See? Aunty style money saving techniques right there. If all your hangers are not the same colour, then the plague will descend upon us. Don't say I didn't warn you.
Because black is the new black
5. Compartments are the bomb-diggity. If you've never experienced the joy of compartments, I weep for your soul.
Bomb-diggity
6. Hide things in boxes, then hide the boxes in cupboards. Hide yo kids. Hide yo wives, people!
I have boxes in boxes in cupboards. That's so meta.
7. Running out of space? Keep things under your bed. In a neat way of course. There is the additional advantage of limiting the available bogeyman hiding space so suck it bogeyman where you gonna hide now?
Dog/bogeyman defence unit is optional
8. Hooks are my friends. Stuck in the insides of cupboards, you can't even see them (Read this like a Sell-a-Vision commercial voice-over: no unsightly hooks!) and they're great for planning an outfit. You want to keep that outfit a secret? Just shut the cupboard! MAGIC.
Now you see I am going to wear this.
What dress?
9. I can't live without jewellery organisers. An added bonus is that they kind of make me feel like I'm in a jewellery store whenever I'm picking out my accessories for the day.
This is as organised as it's going to get
So many empty spots for rings. This means I need more rings.
Ok I'm going to stop the crazy train here but if I come up with anymore awesome organisation tips, I'll let you know. Thanks for reading!

My body is not a wonderland

Dress: Zara (Similar here)
Shoes: Jessica Buurman

Sunglasses: Karen Walker | Earrings: Vintage (Similar here)
Bag: Hong Kong (Similar here)
I look like some vintage flower pot. But in a good way. My sister chose this dress for me when she was out shopping with my aunt and cousin. I was supposed to have gone along and normally I wouldn't miss a shopping outing for anything but I was pretty much paralysed that day. Because I was hungover. HAHA I suck.

Not that I was ever a good drinker, but it seems like age has really caught up with me. Gone are the days when I could go out and have a night of relatively heavy drinking, then wake up the following morning at go wakeboarding. I didn't realise that being in your early 20s means you have some kind of superhuman strength to take abuse. Now if I stay up later than 1am, I need to sleep the whole next day to recover. NOT COOL BODY.

I hope your body isn't taking revenge on you the way mine is. Thanks for reading!

And then, there was one

Top: Gap (Similar here)
Skirt: Kate Spade (Similar here)

Bag: Charles & Keith (Same but different colour here) | Sunglasses: Karen Walker

Bracelet: Jessica Buurman | Rings: Vintage (Similar here and here)

Shoes: Aldo (Similar here)

While you might not be able to tell from my icy cool exterior, I’m actually big time hurting inside. Ok not really big time, but I’m having some feels. My baby cousin Dominic, who I call Nom, has left for university in the states where he’ll study something super nerdy about making games which will then reap him big money and I’ll basically want to mooch off him forever. Now if you’ve been keeping count, then you’d know that cousin Moo went to LA to be a film-producing, Mustang-driving, jam-making hippie, and sister Mousie has gone to New York to totally lose her sense of distance.

Mousie: It’s just like 4 blocks away, we can walk it

Me: Uhh, okay

98567KM later or 61246.694 miles

Mousie: See? That wasn’t so far!

Me: I can’t feel my legs.

So I am the last surviving family member of our generation still living in Singapore. Don’t get me wrong. I love it here, but do you know what this means for me during Chinese New Year???

I’m horrible when it comes to socializing, even with members of our extended family. I used to always have the others there as a buffer to my weirdness. Now that Nom is gone, I’m ALL ALONE. So I think as retribution for them all up and leaving like the big goons that they are, I’m going to claim all their angpow (red packet) money as my own. MUAHAHAHAHAHA.

Thanks for reading, and if you’re Mousie, Moo or Nom, SUCK IT GOONS. (Come home?)

Wijaya

Top: Zara (Similar here)
Sunglasses: Aldo (Similar here) | Bag: Aldo (Similar here)

Skirt: ASOS (Similar here)
Ring: Vintage (Similar-ish here)
I'm not quite sure what I was looking right at but clearly it was very absorbing
Shoes: Missoni (A birthday gift from my ever stylish aunt!)
My colleague asked me today, 'do you shop every week?' to which my other colleague responded, 'more like every day!' Then, the boo asked me, 'do you ever wear an outfit more than once?', which is a pretty terrible question for someone who sees me everyday because it means he's not very observant. The answer is YES. I repeat my clothes. See?

I'll admit I have a lot of clothes but I'd like to think I'm economical about them. The problem though is that fashion trends change quickly and I really really really like wearing new clothes. So I've kind of solved my moral conundrum of being a wasteful materialistic person by donating my used clothes to the groundskeeper of my condo. She's a wonderful and hardworking woman by the name of Wijaya. Her husband used to be the groundskeeper but he passed away suddenly of a heart attack leaving her and their 3 young daughters behind.

Anyway, I've been passing my used but not shoddy clothes to Wijaya and I'd like to think her daughters are super well dressed now (except for the unfortunate time when I throwing away all my skanktastic clubbing clothes from the early 2000s. I'm sure she has better sense than to let her daughters out in such revealing clothes.

In case you're curious...
Praying for more fabric to descend from the heavens

Ok what was my point? Oh yes, so I really hope that you also donate your used clothes to good causes, be it the Salvation Army or to your own helper at home. If you would like to help Wijaya out, that'd be cool too. Just let me know! Three young growing girls need clothes! Thanks for reading!

Going dotty

Top: Pim + Larkin (Similar-ish here)
Skirt: Smooch the Label
Shoes: Jessica Buurman
Sunglasses: Karen Walker
Ring: Gift from Wendy (Similar here) | Bag: Gracious Aires (Similar here)
Brooch: From an Armani Exchange dress (Similar here)
Wearing this dotted skirt is kind of apt for me since my true friend for life Seaneee calls me 'Dots'. The reason why he calls me that is because when he met me, I had a whole bunch of moles dotting my freaking face. You know that scene in Austin Powers when Austin can't help but say 'Moley moley moley' when he sees the huge mole on the other character's face? Yeah. That moment scarred me.

When I was in my early 20s, I had my very first 'procedure' done. I went to visit the wonderful Dr. Roy and had seven moles removed from my face. Instead of those laser pew pew removal procedures, the doctor decided it would be best to cut them from my face and then stitch up the wounds. The procedure was done in the name of pure vanity and while it hurt like a biatch, I definitely don't regret it. What I do regret is not having taken better care of my skin from the start. All those days of tanorexia made me gloriously brown, like sweet caramelised sugar, but it also made the moles on my face throw a mole party and invite all their mole friends. I removed 7 but I still have some lighter ones and some new moles who joined the party a little late.

I'm totally pointing to one of the moles I had removed
Now that I'm older, I'm much more conscious about sun damage and I take pains to slather myself in sunblock before leaving the house in the mornings which would account for why I am now white like a ghost. I highly recommend Biotherm's UV Supra D-Tox for the face and Sunplay's watery cool body mist sunblock for the body. They are both quite lightweight and non-greasy. As an added awesome must-have, mouse squad member Nic introduced me to the Peter Thomas Roth CC cream and it's great for basic coverage and SPF protection too.

This is not an ad since no one is paying me (but I do wish people would pay me to say things because I can really say a lot of things and I like money), but caring is sharing. Thanks for reading!
