Wipe-out pasta

OMG you guys. I totally wiped out AGAIN. I was walking to a cafe for dinner and the floor was wet and I slipped and fell which would have been hilarious if it wasn't so goshdarn painful. And then of course the waitress in the cafe rushed out and said, 'what happened?' as I was on the floor wincing in pain. Hmm. What do you think? I'm doing my mid evening yoga obviously!!!

Anyway, more importantly was the cafe I went to for dinner - Happenstance Cafe! My colleague told me about it so I thought I would check it out. It's a spacious and quite clean (or at least cleaning-looking) dog-friendly cafe at 35 Opal Crescent. This is my first time visiting any pet cafe and aside from falling over, I'd say it was a pretty decent experience.

The good...
  1. I had the aglio olio and the boo had a cheese and tomato based pasta and both were quite yummy
  2. We had an affogato ice-cream that also rocked
  3. The food was quite affordable, think my aglio olio cost $10 and was a good serving size
  4. You can customise your own pasta which is great for fussy eaters
  5. The dogs were mostly all chilled out and doing their own thing when we got there so Nacho didn't turn into the raving lunatic he normally is
  6. It was well-lit, and the patrons were generally quite considerate
  7. DOGS RUNNING FREELY!! WHEEEEEEEEEE!
The bad...
  1. One of the waitresses appeared to be nervous/afraid of dogs. I'm not quite sure why she would choose this place of employment. Perhaps she's trying to get over her phobia but seriously she looked panicked.
  2. Last order was at 9pm and we were a little late so they had sold out their cottage pie (for humans, dog versions still available but come on I have some standards) and their chocolate lava muffin
  3. It's all parallel street parking and not very many so we had to go around a couple of times, and you can't just wait because it's a one lane one-way street
  4. I think they only had one chef so the order comes one after the other rather than at the same time
The ugly...
  1. Don't get me wrong, I love dogs, but they poop and pee at random. Which means you can be nomming away on your aglio olio and then a giant stinky turd appears under your table next to your right foot like its a gift from the heavens brought specially to you.
Final score: I would recommend. Of course I went there on a weekday night pretty late. I imagine over the weekend it might probably turn into a doggie rave.

Two becomes one

I think we all deserve a big pat on our backs because we made it to yet another weekend. *Pat pat pat* I gave myself three because I'm self-indulgent.

This looks like a dress but it's a two piece set - a bustier and a high waisted skirt. Lately I've gone a bit bananas for two piece sets (look out for more amazing matching co-ords in the coming weeks! Wow how is that for building suspense huh?) As they say, 'two is better than one'. The same can also be said about cupcakes. And chocolate bars. And Tori Q sticks (although with that I think honestly 3 or 4 is actually better than 1 and omg now I am hungry.

Thanks for reading, have a great weekend OMNOMNOMNOMNOM.

The gift

I've been very lucky because people in my life are really generous and have gifted me with some wonderful things. 66% of today's outfit were presents and you know, I will never turn down free clothes and accessories because I am a cheapskate. So in honour of the gift-giving people in my life, I've composed a terrible poem:

To my generous relatives and friends
Thanks to you I can follow the trends.
I love your stuff, bought or handed down
Even if sometimes I look like a clown
Please keep up your generosity,
Or I'll become a fashion monstrosity.

Thanks for reading! I know you're probably thinking I'm the next Sylvia Plath.

I had to jet off to KL again this week to attend a meeting and a workshop so instead of posting each night, I decided to combine it all as one big post. This is because I am computer illiterate and did not know how to connect my laptop to the hotel's internet. I am a disgrace to the Gen Y's.

Anyway, I had a couple of challenges packing for KL because I only wanted to carry a cabin sized luggage but I also wanted to fayshun it up. The following are my key tips for packing for business trips:
  • Pack low-heeled shoes/wedges for brisk walking because it is imperative to be able to outpace your fellow business travellers especially when it comes to the immigration queues. The faster you get in line, the faster you get to get into a cab for another long journey to the city centre, champion.
  • Wear a silicon watch for important time-checking. You are an important business person and your time is money so check frequently to see how much money is going to waste every time the people ahead of you dawdle. Sighing loudly is a general rule. A non-metal watch helps to prevent the metal scanning machine to loudly beep and waste precious seconds as someone pats you down.
  • Always pack clothes that don't need to be ironed. Or better, pack clothes that have that purposely crumpled look. Like a purposeful hipster hobo.
  • Bring a capelet and/or a shawl because it gets cold in airports and both are great for putting over your head to protect you from UV rays and weird stares as you fall asleep in the plane/car/meeting room.
Thanks for reading, don't you dawdle now!
