Call a spade a spade

Top: Kate Spade
Skirt: ASOS
My legs look deceivingly muscular right??
Clutch: Kate Spade (Similar here) | Ring: Gift (Similar here)
Shoes: Rebecca Sanver (Similar-ish here)
So the Kate Spade Saturday shop had a launch event and my friend had an invite and asked if I'd like to attend. I immediately asked her, 'will there be sales?' She told me that it seemed to be more of a drinking-champagne-while-mingling kinda thing and since I am sometimes allergic to crowds and also because I was dressed like a cowpat, I decided I'd give it a miss.

Today's outfit was inspired by the event, I suppose this might have been what I would have worn had I been prepared to go and wasn't having such a turd of a day (I had gotten a speeding ticket and demerit points and had been disappointed by the fact that I clocked a crap time for my Great Eastern Women's Run).

But let's face it, the champagne-mingling wouldn't have been enough but I totally would have gone if they had big signs saying "SALE SALE EVERYTHING MUST GO" because I'm a bargain-hunting aunty.

Thanks for reading! Hope you don't feel like a turd.

Who are you calling old?

Top and skirt set: Sheinside
Shoes: Velvet
Bag: Prada (Similar here)
Earrings: Diva (Similar here)
Ring: House of Harlow (Similar here)
I elicited a range of comments in this outfit. Most of them were along the lines of 'retro', 'vintage', '70's inspired'. Obviously, being a draaaaaamaaaaa queen, what I heard was 'you look old'. At this point, my big uh-0 is sneaking up on me and while I desperately cling to the last vestiges of my youth, I am super sensitive about aging. You can bet that I ain't wearing this for a while.

Nonetheless, I was overjoyed by fact that my shoes and the skirt and top set are an exact colour match. It's the small things that count, people.

Thanks for reading, I'm turning 20 if anyone asks.

Bad news for my regular readers (yes, all three of you): I won't be posting for about a week because I'm going to be in New York attending my sister's New York wedding. Much like Paris Hilton who celebrated one of her birthdays in a cross-country mega bash, my dear sister Mousie will be having two weddings. She is fancypants.

The good news though, is that I'll be back in about a week with a smorgasbord of a post complete with wedding pictures, New York sightseeing pictures, pictures of me devouring my Shake Shack burger, poser pictures of me pretending that I was there for New York Fashion Week and all sorts of cross-continental ridiculousness that spills out of my brain. Oh, and hopefully some new outfits to show off in the coming weeks.

Thanks for reading, till next week or you can follow me on instagram @alexwearsstuff if you want to follow more daily hijinks (you totally should).

Art

Top: Nichii | Skirt: Dressabelle (Same here)
Shoes: Charles & Keith (Similar here)
Singapore is so hot so I can't do without my paper fans from Daiso (matching really not on purpose)
Take in some art
Necklace: Twentyeight Lane (Similar here) | Earrings: Diva (Similar here) | Rings: Gifts (Similar here and here)
When you're working in a corporate environment, things don't usually get that creative unless you count the paper clip art that I make whenever my hands are idle (basically just twisting them out of shape till it breaks. I call that 'deconstructive art' because I am an artist).

Imagine my joy when I found one of my favourite paintings on a skirt. It's culture for my butt you guys! I wonder how Van Gogh would feel if he saw me swishing about using his painting to cover my lower body.  I'm sure if he was alive, he'd be totally thrilled and be tweeting/instagramming/facebooking this momentous occasion. You're very welcome, Vincent.

Anyway, thanks for reading, remember, art is good for the soul so go get yourself some paperclips and start deconstructing.

Upcycling

Top: Orla Kiely | Skirt: Altered from a Love Bonito dress
Bag: Nine West
Bracelet: Vintage gift from Cyn | Ring: Chinatown
Shoes: Pedder Red
Earrings: Vintage gift from Cyn
In a bid to help me make more closet space, my friend mentioned the process of 'upcycling' to me where I take my old stuff that I don't use anymore and repurpose it into something else for better environmental value. For example, taking a dress and making it into fancy cushion covers, or a fancy apron, or part of a quilt, and other such homely hipster things.

I'm not sure I'm ready to turn my home into a shrine dedicated to my clothes but I did give upcycling a bit of a spin today. The skirt I'm wearing used to be a dress but the top of the dress was too tight, probably because I'm so well-endowed (*sob* I am not at all, I just bought a size too small because of wishful thinking) so I had it tailored into just a skirt. My goodness what an ingenious money-saving human being.  And my ring? It used to be a brooch. OMG UPCYCLING FOR THE WIN.

Thanks for reading, what did YOU do to save the earth today?
