One thing I love more than snakeskin is my own skin. Well, I kind of hate it as well. At the age of 24 (even though now I am 21 but whatevs), I came down with what is known as adult female acne. Basically, I had mega zits along my jaw and on my cheeks that made me a pizza face and not in the delicious yummy way. After spending a ton on facials and products, all with limited success, I finally went to see a dermatologist - Dr Phay Ken-Lin from Specialist Skin Clinic. Dr Phay is a wonderful dermatologist and I would totally recommend going to her for all your skincare needs. She's really warm and thorough, and as a mature lady, looks super great, so you know she knows what she's talking about.

Adult female acne typically attacks women who didn't suffer from excessive acne woes during puberty and usually around the age of 25 - 30 (I think). Dr Phay said they weren't sure of its exact cause but speculated that it could be due to the fact that women were having babies later. It was a while back but I still shudder at the thought, I was so upset because that was the age where I was going out a lot and meeting a lot of people working as a door bitch, so I was really self-conscious. I remember calling an ex up and saying, "hey did you curse me?". Yup. Acne mad me mental.

I went on a course of Roaccutane for about a year, which serves to turn your face into a prune (but also not letting the acne have any ammunition for explosions) so it was then that I discovered the wonders of Cetaphil face wash and Dalacin (a topical acne solution). After one year, I was cured of my acne and stopped Roaccutane but I still use Cetaphil (which you can buy at the pharmacies) and Dalacin (which you need a prescription for).

Anyway, just wanted to share this story with you because acne sucks and skin is precious. And because Dr Phay is the bombdiggity. Thanks for reading!

Continuing my streak of shiny with this fancy skirt with an equestrian themed print on it because it looks like the fanciest wrapping paper this side of Singapore. Santa says you've been good this year and so I'm your present. Unwrap with care. BOOM. And just like that I've managed to make your Christmas just a little bit grosser. MUAHAHAHAHAHA.

Speaking of Santa, I hope the old guy got my emails. I don't want to sound spoiled or anything but my wishlist has been growing with no resolution. Like seriously dude, where in the world is the Chanel bag I asked for? How about that winning lottery ticket with my name on it? And WHAT HAPPENED TO MY BUTLER NAMED JEEVES WHO IS EXCEPTIONALLY TALENTED IN THE CULINARY ART OF FRENCH TOAST MAKING????? HUH????? Look Santa, don't make me come down to the North Pole and punch an elf.

Oops, I guess I've sunk to a new low threatening to punch a little magical person for presents. I might be in the naughty list again, dammit. Thanks for reading!

Lip service

Bag: Kate Spade (Similar here)
Shoes: Rebecca Sanver (Similar-ish here)
My goodness this is a matchymatchy outfit. It actually wasn't so matchy in real life but in photos I look like I am obsessed with blue and orange and if I don't wear ALL the blue and orange in the world, a great plague will come and wipe us all out and the earth will be filled with zombies eating brains and drooling, and bugs will be the size of cars and we'll all be pretty much screwed.

Hmmm. What is my point? Oh I didn't have one.

Thanks for reading! Zooooooooooooooooommbieeeeeee waaaaaaaaaants braaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaainsssssss.

Craycray

The inspiration: my style crush nailing it as always. Pic taken from Atlantic Pacific
My take on the look. Pass?
Shirt: River Island | Skirt: Seed (Similar here)
Ring: Gift (Similar here) | Bag: Comme Des Garcon (Similar-ish here) | Shoes: Shoemint (Similar here)
Earrings: Hand me downs (Similar here)
I've been really taken by the stripes and floral combo, something about the whole clashy-matchy thing just makes me squeal like a happy little piglet. However, there's a thin line between clashy-matchy and clashy-ugly. I spent at least 20 minutes just looking at myself in the mirror this morning. Also, have you ever checked out your reflection in one mirror and then moved to another mirror to check, just in case? Yeah I might be weird. Not sure what surprises I was expecting.

D, my colleague (and friend - when I previously referred to her without the friend part, there were CONSEQUENCES) looked at me and said I looked crazy. I guess crazy is better than clashy-ugly?

Thanks for reading, here's to the crazies!

G(u)ilt

Like a tourist posing in front of shiny metal balls
Silk shirt: Uniqlo | Skirt: ASOS
Earrings: Chinatown | Necklace: ASOS | Ring: Some shop in Boston
Shoes: Charles & Keith (Snakeskin print! Squeaaaal!)
Bag: Prada (In the course of taking the last photo, I misplaced my ring. D'oh!)
The common refrain by my colleagues today was 'you look so bling bling', which I will take as a compliment for my gilt laden look. I love me some shiny so I couldn't resist getting this embossed snakeskin print leather skirt (plus I adore snakeskin print because I am a Real Housewife of River Valley - make it a deep V plunge caftan and I will probably squeal). Of course, guilt set in shortly after (oh I love me some puns!) since I realised I might not be able to wear it all that often because:
  1. It must be dry-cleaned, a process which is expensive and it's hard to find a good cleaner that does leather
  2. It is leather so it can be hot and this leads to S.L.S. (Sticky Legs Syndrome)
  3. It is shiny and thus might not be very suitable for many occasions
However, I can confirm that it is super suitable for a Monday because what better way to start off the week than to make people unwittingly stare at your butt/crotch/thighs! Sometimes you just need a little thrill.

Thanks for reading and for staring at my butt/crotch/thighs! HAHAHAHAHAHA!
