Clown

Dress: Romwe | Shoes: Romwe | Bag: Charles & Keith | Earrings: Vincci (Similar here) | Ring: Vintage (Similar here)

Where has time gone? It's nearly the end of the year! Also, wasn't I just sixteen yesterday? WHAT HAPPENED???

So recently I've been daydreaming about my dream home of the future. Being the ultimate planner, I've got it almost all planned out except for the part where I pay for it. DAMMIT.

I've visited a whole bunch of showflats and actual flats (is there a different way of referring to them?) recently and here's what I've learned about house-hunting:
1. Interior decor really makes a difference and I'm really easily fooled by nice furniture.
2. Apartments are tiny these days but also really really really really really really really expensive.
3. The windows in showflats are 'for show only'.
4. Real estate agents like having long pinkie fingernails.
5. Asking questions like 'hey is that other flat across the road cheaper?' will not get a desirable response.

I'm so grown up.

Anyone have any apartment hunting tips? Or actually, more importantly, does anyone have any tips on how to make a ridiculous amount of money in a very short time without having to sell one's soul or body?

Thanks for reading... Now give me your money.

It's a nice day for a white wedding

Top: Mango | Skirt: ASOS (Similar here) | Shoes: Nelly (Similar here)
Bag: Hong Kong (Similar here) | Earrings: Vincci (Similar here) | Ring: Twentyeight Lane

As much as I've tried to fight it, I've reached the age bracket where most of the people I know are getting married and making babies. It's truly scary. Nonetheless, I'm filled with many joyous feelings for all of my beautiful friends and their partners and obviously wish them marital bliss.

I've been a bridesmaid 4 times now (one more time to come next year for my dear friend dell), so I like to think I've picked up some excellent tricks on being THE BEST BRIDESMAID IN THE WORLD.

If you are younger than me and haven't started attending 43268923752 weddings a year yet, then here are some tips so you can smoothly navigate the treacherous waters around bridezilla island (not that the brides I maided for were bridezillas!!!!) and the gulf of the demanding parentals (also not saying anything!!!).

Tips to be the world's second best bridesmaid:

The bride is the bride. You are not. So avoid wearing anything skanky that would make all the eyes be on your flesh rather than on the bride. Also, while it's an old fashioned thing, avoid wearing white because while most brides don't really care, there will always be those who do and you should err on the side of caution.

Check your personal dramas at the door. If you're on the verge of an epic movie star meltdown - Just don't.
Honey I'm about to throw down. Pic from here
Always have tissue ready because those gowns are stuffy and hot so the bride might perspire. Also, people typically cry.
I'm just so happy right now!!!! Pic from here
The word 'maid' in 'bridesmaid' was put there for a reason. Rose petals stained the bottom of her gown? Get down on your hands and knees and bleach it off baby. Bride needs you to make her diamond ring sparkle like that vampire in Twilight? You go buff that thing till your fingers are numb.
Bow to me, slave! Pic from here
If you're a speech-giver, do not, for the love of all things good and holy, a) get so drunk you end up slurring through the speech, b) wing it - prepare your speech c) talk about the hens night/penises/the bride's sex life (or even lack thereof).
The speech giver is totally like 'NAILED IT'. Pic from here
Thanks for reading, I hope you'll enjoy all the lovely weddings you will attend!

Nation building

Top: ASOS (Similar here) | Skirt: ASOS (Similar here)
Bag: Charles & Keith (Similar here) | Shoes: Aldo (Similar here) | Necklace: Jessica Buurman

I love my nation - I'm proud to call myself a Singaporean and I think the nation deserves the best so with that in mind, I wrote this post...

While crazy stuff isn't new in Singapore, it certainly causes quite a stir each time. Singapore is a melting pot of different cultural practices and norms, it's a city nation which is teeny tiny but bustling with people of all races and religions, backgrounds and principles, and while this means we're super diverse and have a variety of flavours (yum!), we're probably also still figuring out how to adjust to and live with one another. With the advent of social media, EVERYTHING is recorded and basically we should seriously either a) live in fear of the extreme invasion of privacy and never leave the house b) embrace it and become a social media superstar (like moi hahahaha riiiight) c) stop being a jackass.

Need proof of the crazy?

Angry man + Vulgar t-shirt on teen = BOOM

Sometimes you just gotta go....

The noble Samurai?

OMG what the hell there is a blog dedicated to people being aggro to one another. I can't even.

Thankfully I've yet to be involved in anything unpleasant in a public space (aside from the time I saw an old dude pull out his weiner on the bus) but honestly, I kind of live in fear that somehow my actions are going to be misconstrued and I'll lose my job or worse, have angry netizens dig up my personal details forcing to me to get chased out of the country.

Obviously, in the above mentioned scenarios, it's pretty clear that these perpetrators aren't really doing themselves any favours. Seriously, not being a total buttwipe is the first step to not angering others so here's are my handy charts to enable you to better navigate the treacherous waters we know as our society.

On a bus or a train

Just generally being out in public

Obviously it's easy to make a joke out of bad behaviour and here I am being all preachy but the truth is, I have my own inconsiderate behaviour to change. I'm quick to anger over small things like people cutting into my lane when I drive, but I think true change comes from within and I want to effect positive change by just not being a giant turd and I invite you to do the same, one bus/train ride at a time!

Wackadoo

Top: Old (Similar here) | Skirt: Smooch the Label (Similar here) | Bag: Sheinside
Shoes: Le Bunny Bleu | Sunglasses: Far East Plaza (Similar here) | Ring: Vintage (Similar here

Sometimes when I'm looking at fashion online, I like to make myself really sad by visiting sites like The Outnet or Net-A-Porter and then looking at all the beautiful things that I cannot afford. Then I usually curl up into a ball, eat a lot of chocolate, and cry into the pillow of poverty and despair. Now, I realise that that's not exactly a healthy way of behaving, so rather than dealing with my anguish alone, I will share it with you.

Here are a bunch of totally wacky things that I've seen recently that I really really really want for various reasons (Insanity - that's my jam):

I'd like to sail on those rough seas *wink wink*
This Lee + Lani Sailboat Net bikini is the raddest and most creative bikini I've ever seen. And basically your privates are only covered by the patterns and the rest is basically nudity.

This little piggie went to market and bought a bedazzler
Oh Judith Lieber, you crazy minx. I'm going to call him Lord Pigglesworth Shinybottom. In case you were wondering, it's a minaudiere which I think is a fancy way of saying 'little jewellery clutch thingy'

Stomping around on those hearts
These heels are perfect as a Valentine's Day gift and much more worthwhile than roses that wilt. You're basically SAVING money.

Punk duck doesn't f*ck around
Who doesn't need a punk duck crystal pave minaudiere?! This is what I call commitment to a theme. He has a freaking nose ring!!!

Too tron to take
Not usually a Versace fan but OMG I LOVE THIS PLEASE SOMEONE BUY IT FOR ME I AM DYINGGGG!

Joining the rainbow parade

With former Olympian Bruce Jenner transitioning to her real self - Caitlyn Jenner, transgenderism has really become quite a hot topic. I recalled an article I read a while back which I found very interesting and which covered what I think would be a dream job for me. "Inside the World of Femme Coaching" is about how women are hired by transgender women who are transitioning or have transitioned from biologically male to female. In order for these new women to better navigate the world in their new femme identities, they turn to femme coaches, women who teach trans women how to display the subtle intricacies of feminine behaviour.

That is just AWESOME. And I think I would be really great at this for several reasons:
1. I am a woman both biologically and mentally. Although spiritually, I am a fire-breathing possum
2. I love to nag coach
3. I love to spend (other people's) money on things
4. I am open-minded but also good at keeping secrets
5. I am all for makeovers, makeunders and making magic

So to all you new women out there, please consider this my cover letter. I'm available and my rates are low. Also, welcome to the sisterhood.

On cloud 9

Dress: Original Penguin (Similar here)
Sunglass: Woodzee

Bag: ASOS
Ring: Gift from Wens (Similar here) | Shoes: Le Bunny Bleu
I've been waiting for an occasion to bust out this cute cloud clutch from ASOS and I think it nicely compliments my rainbow striped dress because rainbows and clouds always go together cutely. Proof:
Buay tahan so cutesy. Pic from here
Too. Much. Cute.

And what better way to show my joy that the weekend approacheth (I'm doing Shakespeare now) than to wear happy bright colours and hold a whimsical clutch.

However, as a crazy hoarder of junk, I like to be able to carry at least my bathroom sink in my bag and the downside of this clutch is that it only has the capacity to carry some cash and a phone. I'm not sure if the makers were expecting me to carry the rest of my stuff on my head.
I'm just not that talented. Pic from here
Anyway, thanks for reading! Have a super rainbow-bright-balancey-on-head weekend!

These are a few of my favourite things

Top and skirt set: Sheinside
Shoes: Vincci (Similar here)
Rings: Lovisa (Similar here) | Necklace: Twentyeight Lane
Bag: Kate Spade (Similar here)
Today's outfit is brought to you by the letter 'A' because two-piece set + rainbow colours + stripes + neon bits and bobs = A is for AWESOME.

I would like to share the euphoria I feel because of awesome things so I'm going to list some of my online treasures that hopefully will be totally new to you, which will make you think I'm some super trendsetting lifestyle guru.

Great international (aka not Singapore) online shopping
  • The majority of my clothes come from ASOS because it carries tons of different styles at quite affordable prices. The downside is how long it takes for delivery - I can forget that I ordered things but the plus side of that is that when I get deliveries, it's kind of like a nice surprise.
  • I recently discovered Sheinside and while they have lots of stuff that won't totally work in this climate, like woolly coats and winter pieces, they've got some fun stuff to choose from although quality isn't as good as ASOS.
  • Mod Cloth is another recent discovery and it's got lots of deals and discount promos for shoppers and from what I see, the stuff is all cute and trendy.
Local online shopping
  • Dressabelle is good if you're an office lady on a budget. They have very office-appropriate attire and they bring in new stock very often.
  • Smooch the Label - I love the way they replicate expensive looks for less, but don't sacrifice the fabric quality.
  • Twentyeight Lane - Love the pretty accessories but they can be a tad pricey at times (I'm a cheapskate so I only buy during sales) but the pieces are very solid and of good quality.
For your reading pleasure
  • I've mentioned The Bloggess before but seriously, if you're into irreverent and awesome stuff, check her out.
  • Go Fug Yourself is the celebrity fash trash site of choice because they write in a fun and well-meaning way and cover a good range of gloriously hideous celebrity fashion
  • Sad and Useless because some days, you just need to look at nonsense.
  • The Cool Hunter is the best way to look at a wide selection of cool things at a one-stop location. The architecture and interior design is the bombdigitty.
