Flower power

Top: Nichii | Skirt: Zara (Similar here and here)
Earrings: Vintage from Cyn (similar here) | Necklace: Quintessential (Similar here) | Ring: Vintage from Cyn (similar here)
Watch: New Look | Bag: Gracious Aires (similar here) | Shoes: New Look (similar here)
I had a teacher who all the students referred to as 'Flower Power' for her deep and enduring love of floral print dresses. Unfortunately, this wasn't a reference to the 60's hippie flower power style but rather, a negative comment on the 'auntyness' of her attire.

I like girly floral prints a lot but I also have a deep and enduring fear that my prints will be too aunty. It's kind of hard to tell right? Can anyone really explain in words what makes one flower print aunty, while another one awesome?

Nevertheless, you'll still find me in flowers because I'm so brave. I'm like the Asian version of Merida* except I don't have a bow, I'm not a princess and my mother has never turned into a bear, as far as I am aware.

Thanks for reading, peace and love to all.

*From the movie Brave. Bravo if you got the reference you pop culture genius!

Love list

Top: Axara | Skirt: Tracyeinny
Bag: Y-3 | Shoes: Far East Plaza

Earrings: Far East Plaza
The pout + smile = 'smout' (Beat that, Tyra)
Shoes got absolutely destroyed so I had to chuck them. Goodbye old friends. *Sniffle*
Today's outfit encompasses all the things that I am currently obsessed with, including but not limited to:
  1. Stripes - They say vertical stripes makes the wearer appear slimmer right? Please let that be true.
  2. Polka dots - Impossible to not love, they make most things very cute unless they appear on the skin as some kind of a disease. In which case, yuck.
  3. Black and white with a pop of red - well documented as an Alex favourite
  4. Quirky statement jewellery - in case you ever feel like buying me a gift. The bigger the better. I like it to get crazy up in here.
  5. Unique, eye-catching shoes - Plain is for vanilla, bread and yoghurt, not for feet!
  6. YOU! - That's why I'm blogging, thanks for reading!

Lean, mean, green machine

Dress: Banana Republic | Shoes: ASOS
So happy drinking coffee but little did I know that Sadako was hanging out behind my left shoulder.
I ain't afraid of no ghost.
Belt: Far East Plaza | Ring: House of Harlow | Shoes: ASOS | Watch: Swatch | Earrings: Diva
When I was younger, my god-sister made a passing comment that a woman who was wearing a lot of green looked like Kermit the Frog. I think this incident might have scarred me because for the most part of my life, I hardly ever wore green because I didn't want people to think of frogs when they looked at me.

However, being the adventurous daredevil that I have grown into (last year, I even tried laksa for the first time - ADVENTURE TIME!), I took a chance on this dress and I have to say, I don't think I look much like Kermit although there were some moments when I walked past a few bushes and became a chameleon. Oh well, can't win 'em all huh?

Upcycling

Top: Orla Kiely | Skirt: Altered from a Love Bonito dress
Bag: Nine West
Bracelet: Vintage gift from Cyn | Ring: Chinatown
Shoes: Pedder Red
Earrings: Vintage gift from Cyn
In a bid to help me make more closet space, my friend mentioned the process of 'upcycling' to me where I take my old stuff that I don't use anymore and repurpose it into something else for better environmental value. For example, taking a dress and making it into fancy cushion covers, or a fancy apron, or part of a quilt, and other such homely hipster things.

I'm not sure I'm ready to turn my home into a shrine dedicated to my clothes but I did give upcycling a bit of a spin today. The skirt I'm wearing used to be a dress but the top of the dress was too tight, probably because I'm so well-endowed (*sob* I am not at all, I just bought a size too small because of wishful thinking) so I had it tailored into just a skirt. My goodness what an ingenious money-saving human being.  And my ring? It used to be a brooch. OMG UPCYCLING FOR THE WIN.

Thanks for reading, what did YOU do to save the earth today?

Slouchy

Dress: Commuun | Shoes: Charles & Keith
Bag: Y-3
Necklace: Far East Plaza | Bracelets: Got these over 10 years ago and my memory has failed me so let's pretend I made them
Looking at the shoes again because I love them but don't expect an up-close shot, my feet are nasty, so it's for your benefit.
NooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooo!!!! It can't be Monday again can it?!?! I wasn't ready for anything stiff and constrictive since the weekend debauchery included nuggets and french fries (mmm) so today's look is what I think my sister would call 'lesbian art gallery owner'. If I had to use one word to explain that, it would be 'slouchy; but I assure you it is a good thing. Because I'm really good at disturbing people while they work, I decided to poll some of my friends' on some descriptions of their looks:w
  1. L said 'casual made-for-cafe' - Some people clearly don't need to work.
  2. N said 'depressed chic drug addict - Flashdance meets Trainspotting I think.
  3. S said 'Batman when he's not fighting crime' - So, Bruce Wayne...? Trying to say he's a baller.
  4. D said 'wage slave' - Probably works much harder than L
  5. N said 'Casual urban tropical' - Hawaiian print shirt and pants maybe?
  6. A said 'nudist' - this is why we are friends *perv time!*
That's about all the friends I have so that's where the poll ended.

Thanks for reading! How would you describe your look?
