Wijaya

Sunglasses: Aldo (Similar here) | Bag: Aldo (Similar here)

Skirt: ASOS (Similar here)

I'm not quite sure what I was looking right at but clearly it was very absorbing
Shoes: Missoni (A birthday gift from my ever stylish aunt!)
My colleague asked me today, 'do you shop every week?' to which my other colleague responded, 'more like every day!' Then, the boo asked me, 'do you ever wear an outfit more than once?', which is a pretty terrible question for someone who sees me everyday because it means he's not very observant. The answer is YES. I repeat my clothes. See?

I'll admit I have a lot of clothes but I'd like to think I'm economical about them. The problem though is that fashion trends change quickly and I really really really like wearing new clothes. So I've kind of solved my moral conundrum of being a wasteful materialistic person by donating my used clothes to the groundskeeper of my condo. She's a wonderful and hardworking woman by the name of Wijaya. Her husband used to be the groundskeeper but he passed away suddenly of a heart attack leaving her and their 3 young daughters behind.

Anyway, I've been passing my used but not shoddy clothes to Wijaya and I'd like to think her daughters are super well dressed now (except for the unfortunate time when I throwing away all my skanktastic clubbing clothes from the early 2000s. I'm sure she has better sense than to let her daughters out in such revealing clothes.

In case you're curious...
Praying for more fabric to descend from the heavens

Ok what was my point? Oh yes, so I really hope that you also donate your used clothes to good causes, be it the Salvation Army or to your own helper at home. If you would like to help Wijaya out, that'd be cool too. Just let me know! Three young growing girls need clothes! Thanks for reading!

Going dotty

Top: Pim + Larkin (Similar-ish here)
Skirt: Smooch the Label
Shoes: Jessica Buurman
Sunglasses: Karen Walker
Ring: Gift from Wendy (Similar here) | Bag: Gracious Aires (Similar here)
Brooch: From an Armani Exchange dress (Similar here)
Wearing this dotted skirt is kind of apt for me since my true friend for life Seaneee calls me 'Dots'. The reason why he calls me that is because when he met me, I had a whole bunch of moles dotting my freaking face. You know that scene in Austin Powers when Austin can't help but say 'Moley moley moley' when he sees the huge mole on the other character's face? Yeah. That moment scarred me.

When I was in my early 20s, I had my very first 'procedure' done. I went to visit the wonderful Dr. Roy and had seven moles removed from my face. Instead of those laser pew pew removal procedures, the doctor decided it would be best to cut them from my face and then stitch up the wounds. The procedure was done in the name of pure vanity and while it hurt like a biatch, I definitely don't regret it. What I do regret is not having taken better care of my skin from the start. All those days of tanorexia made me gloriously brown, like sweet caramelised sugar, but it also made the moles on my face throw a mole party and invite all their mole friends. I removed 7 but I still have some lighter ones and some new moles who joined the party a little late.

I'm totally pointing to one of the moles I had removed
Now that I'm older, I'm much more conscious about sun damage and I take pains to slather myself in sunblock before leaving the house in the mornings which would account for why I am now white like a ghost. I highly recommend Biotherm's UV Supra D-Tox for the face and Sunplay's watery cool body mist sunblock for the body. They are both quite lightweight and non-greasy. As an added awesome must-have, mouse squad member Nic introduced me to the Peter Thomas Roth CC cream and it's great for basic coverage and SPF protection too.

This is not an ad since no one is paying me (but I do wish people would pay me to say things because I can really say a lot of things and I like money), but caring is sharing. Thanks for reading!

A break from the regular scheduled program

This post has nothing to do with clothes.

I was sorting through my photos and old emails and came across this one. A whole lifetime ago, I had a short romance with someone and while it obviously didn't work out due to a variety of reasons (ok, only one: he wasn't that into me), I still kept this email.* I guess I really like how poetically he wrote and I kind of feel nostalgic, not for him, but for a different time in my life where I really had no clue what was going on but I was really living in the moment. It was a time of spontaneity, a moment so carefree I felt like I was on a rollercoaster. Now it's all about paying bills and tedious responsibilities so I think it's cool to be a little nostalgic, right? Anyway, I wanted to share that youthful moment with you.

A,

I have my earphones on with 'oh mandy' on repeat. The plane engine
whirs in the background. I'm a little sentimental, and I hope it is
raining outside. I hope you are well.

Darling, keep marching to the indie beat, guzzling 'em tiger beers and
covering your face with that crazy-beautiful smile.

I will remember the late nights, the tanning sessions in the pebbled
courtyard, the clandestine operations, hard candy-possibly the most experimental movie I've seen,
our numerous introductions and reintroductions, the princess in an
orange and white sun dress in a house full of drama queens, the mee
pok sessions you had to endure, two dimples and a palm tree, and the red
toothbrush that was left behind.

An August crush, months of sprinkled flirting, a December fling, now
it has come full circle; January, a little crushed. As we walk down
our own decidedly wicked paths, let's think back on this fondly, in
all its simplicity.

Take care,

* I edited out a line and the name because I guess I should still respect some of his privacy even though I've totally just put his private email to me out on the world wide web. Lol. Sorry dude.

Ps. YOUR LOSS SUCKA!

Old timer

Dress: ASOS
Shoes: Nelly (Similar here)

I'm bringing sexy back.
Sunglasses: Karen Walker | Necklace: Gift (Same here)
Bag: Red Valentino | Ring: Vintage (Similar here)
I recently attended a friend's wedding followed by the after-party at Butter Factory on the club's last night of operations. Somehow I decided it would be a fantastic idea to have a rager of a night because I felt like I needed to reclaim some of that wild youthful energy I used to have. This was a fatal mistake especially since I was still nursing a nasty cold.

Things that happened that made me realise I am just not that young sprightly thing I once was:
  1. I had to pimp out a younger female friend so I could score drinks. Oh the shame.
  2. I fell down. A lot. I have a bruised palm and finger, a bruised left arm, a bruised knee and a twisted ankle. I just can't do high heels anymore.
  3. I could not keep food down the whole next day and fell even sicker than I had previously been. Because when you're old, your body says "screw you" and gives up.
  4. I ended up talking to young girls about their jobs. Hi Melvina, the SG stewardess, you're very nice and friendly. Sorry I was karate kicking the flush for the toilet. That must have been tremendously weird.
I guess it's really time to accept this weird inevitable aging thing. But before I do that, here are pictures of me wearing a backless dress to the office because ONLY YOUNG GIRLS WOULD DO THAT RIGHT???? Thanks for reading!

First outfit post on my blog for 2015! Harking back to old favourites - stripes, pouffy skirts and whimsical prints.

I hope you all had a smashing New Year. I know I did. Too much smashing and not enough resting means that I came down with a raging sore throat and cold on New Year's Day. It made me really want to rethink my life choices (namely the nuggets, cheezels, and sausages I pigged out on the night before) so I started thinking about New Year's resolutions.

Every year, I make resolutions that I ultimately break which leaves in a bit of a shame spiral so this year, I've decided to make some resolutions that will be easier to keep or totally okay to break. I highly recommend you do this too because it's so awesome to be able to say you stuck to it.

The resolutions I'm totally going to break are:
  1. Be mean to animals, especially your dog. Make him beg for a treat, then eat it.
  2. Only shower once a week because you want to save water. Be an earth warrior no matter how bad the smell.
  3. Get into a cat-fight with a woman at a sale. Fight for your rights to that last pair of shoes, or that bagel at half off. Whatever.
The resolutions I'm totally going to keep:
  1. Sleep more. You know you deserve it.
  2. Secretly throw out food from the fridge to curtail your mother's food hoarding habits.  If she asks you where that steak bone is, lie and say you gnawed on it while sleep-eating.
  3. Buy more gifts for people. Especially yourself.
Thanks for reading, I hope you manage to keep to all your resolutions, or not.
